Director’s notes
The universe of big jewellers is a mysterious and fascinating reality: a world that is reserved to a few lucky ones and where secrets are carefully safeguarded. However, the big creators of jewels possess an exceptional savoir faire and their creations are often associated to major history events such as king and queens coronations, important celebrations, etc. This project was designed to tell the story of some of the biggest jewellery brands, of the men and women that founded and established them, of those who continue to design and create such unique pieces through art and exceptional craftsmanship. Amongst these large dynasties, the taste for creation, for the unique and the amazing, are passed from generation to generation. Their strength is undoubtedly the result of their ability of blending young generations’ modernity with the extraordinary wealth of a cultural and artisanal background that goes back centuries.
